A new extratropical cyclone threatens Rio Grande do Sul; see other weather alerts


The formation of a new extratropical cyclone is expected to cause storms in Rio Grande do Sul between Thursday (2) and Friday (3), with wind gusts that could exceed 100 km/h at the start of the weekend, according to O National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

According to Climatempo, All Saints’ Day is expected to be marked by numerous rains and storms in the southern region of the country. The depression in Paraguay reinforces instability from north-central Rio Grande do Sul to southwest Paraná. The weather is closed and overcast, with heavy and heavy rain showers at all times.

In the southeast, this Thursday (2) is expected to be muggy in São Paulo, with many clouds in the capital of São Paulo, in addition to rain showers throughout the afternoon. Lots of clouds and rain at all times in the Rio Doce valley and Espírito Santo, due to infiltration from the sea.

Sunny with lots of clouds and isolated rain in Rio de Janeiro. Inland Rio de Janeiro, rain intensity can be moderate. Rain showers may also occur in the form of a few thunderstorms in southern and northern Minas Gerais.

In the Center-West, a low pressure system acting in Paraguay, favoring numerous clouds in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul. The risk of thunderstorms with heavy rain is high in Ponta Porã and Corumbá. There is potential for disruption and the situation is dangerous in southern Mato Grosso do Sul.

Sunshine and heavy rain showers in the states of Goiás and east-central Mato Grosso, as well as the Federal District, which is also subject to moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by lightning and moderate winds. The weather remains firm only in western Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul.

In the North-East, light and temporary rains over the entire north-east coast. In the interior of Maranhão, Piauí and Bahia, west of Pernambuco and Alagoas, rain showers are expected from the afternoon onwards, with the highest volumes expected for the south- west of Bahia.

Temperatures remain high throughout the Northeast region and the weather is becoming sultry. It does not only rain in the areas bordering Piauí with the State of Ceará, in south-central Ceará, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, in Paraíba and also in north-central Pernambuco.

In the Northern region, moderate to heavy rain showers in western Amazonas, Acre and western Rondônia. It could also rain with high intensity in the northeast of Pará, and firm weather in the east of the Amazonas, in the west of Pará, in the south of Roraima and in Amapá.

In other areas the sun appears, but from the afternoon isolated showers are forecast.
