Brazil has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Pan American Games in Santiago in men’s football. Against Colombia, in the second round of the first phase, the Seleção won 2-0, thanks to goals from Guilherme Biro and Gabriel Pirani, at the Sausalito stadium, in Viña del Mar.
The Brazilians take the lead in Group B, now with six points. Only the United States and Colombia can surpass Brazil. As the teams will face each other in the final round, the Seleção qualified in advance for the semi-final. Their next clash will take place on Sunday, at 1 p.m. (Brasília time), still in Viña del Mar.
Colombia, second with three points, faces the United States on Sunday at 6 p.m. It will be a direct confrontation to qualify for the semi-finals.
Unlike its debut at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Brazil did not take long to open the scoring against Colombia. In the 14th minute, Matheus Nascimento wasted a great opportunity after being gifted by the defender at the edge of the area. Then, in the 16th, the attacker served Guilherme. Number 11 comes out in front of the goal and sends it into the left corner.
