A Brazilian woman died in Dublin, Ireland, after the electric bike she was riding collided with a truck last Monday (6). Josilaine dos Santos Ribeiro36, was taken to Saint James Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.
The Brazilian was in her last semester of computer science at the National College of Ireland. In a statement, the establishment said it was “deeply saddened by the tragic death” of the student.
Also in a statement, the Dublin Cycling Association lamented Josilaine’s death and called for safer cycle paths in the city.
“We are furious at the delays in providing safe, segregated cycle paths for our city. We are frustrated by the irresponsible levels of enforcement of safe driving in our city.
“The circulation of heavy goods vehicles especially requires careful management,” adds the association.
