Canam Bridges lays off 80 workers in Laval


Canam Bridges will lay off 80 workers at its Laval site to move its manufacturing activities to its Shawinigan and Quebec plants, it has confirmed. The newspaper.

“We will be relocating our bearing and joint manufacturing activities,” said Marie-Claude Harvey, director of human resources at Canam Bridges.

“We will maintain our engineering, showroom, sales and budgeting services in Laval,” he explained.

Canam Bridges worked primarily on the New Champlain Bridge Corridor, the Saint-Jacques Street Overpass Bridge and the Shelburne Bridge in Nova Scotia.

In total, more than 550 people work at Canam Bridges in Quebec.
