Internacional was unable to face Palmeiras this Saturday and ended up losing 3-0 at the Arena Barueri. The physical exhaustion was evident, even more so in the second half, when the São Paulo team was extremely dominant.
Coach Eduardo Coudet admitted that the team was tired from the series of matches this season and stressed that they were facing an “unforgiving team”.
“I think the difference was clearly efficiency and strength. In the first half we also had chances, they managed one and we didn’t manage the ones we had. In the second we started well, I feel like on the second goal we made a lot of mistakes. With fatigue after the second goal, the match ended. There were seven, eight consecutive rounds, every three days. We are facing a rival who is unforgiving. The most worrying thing, apart from having lost, is that we hope that the players are well and that we can get them back,” said the coach.
Eduardo Coudet highlighted the good performance of goalkeeper Weverton, who made crucial saves in the first half.
” I do not like losing. I feel like we had a chance to win, but we couldn’t finish. Weverton put in a great performance and they took better advantage of their chances,” he said.
The coach promised a different team after the break for Data FIFA. “We will certainly see a different team, we will have time, it is fundamental in the physical part, we will arrive in another way. To put the team together, against Palmeiras, it was after noon, asking how everyone was,” he said.
With the defeat, Internacional found itself in the middle of the standings, with 43 points, still with a certain “fat” compared to the clubs fighting against relegation.
