Him again: Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer plays with Portela’s drums


Chad Smith, drummer of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers, surprised once again, he showed up at Portela’s rehearsal on Friday (17) and made a sound with the drums of the samba school.

During a visit to the club’s grounds, located in the Oswaldo Cruz neighborhood in northern Rio de Janeiro, the musician was seen playing some instruments and wearing a school shirt.

“Chad must have already registered his CPF and bought a Bilhete Único Carioca,” wrote one of the drummer’s fans.

During the event, Portela received a visit from another Rio club, Salgueiro.

Chad Smith is in Brazil because of the concerts that the Red Hot Chili Peppers played in the country. They passed through Brasilia, São Paulo, Curitiba and Porto Alegre. The musician is due to travel to Chile, where the group will perform on Sunday (19) and Tuesday (21).

During his visit to Brazil, Chad surprised fans and customers at a bar in the Ipanema district, in the southern zone of Rio, on November 2. Alongside a musician from the bar, he performed hits from the group Legião Urbana, such as “Será” and the hit “Otherside,” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Almost a week later, on the 8th, the musician was seen at the show of the duo Jorge and Mateus, in São Paulo. The video posted by the RHCP Brasil profile on social media shows Chad enjoying one of the country singers’ new songs.

“It was great talking with Chad Smith in the locker room tonight,” Mateus wrote on his Instagram account. “Musician of the soul. Maximum respect.”

After the concerts in Chile, the Red Hot Chili Peppers travel to Argentina, where they will perform two concerts on November 24 and 26. The band also has concerts planned in the US state of California in December and February.
