New death in Hollywood: US TV star found dead by friend

The star actor of the popular telenovela “General Hospital,” Tyler Christopher, has died at the age of 50. One of his friends reportedly discovered him at his home without hearing from him.

Local law enforcement sources in San Diego told TMZ that officers responded to a 911 call Tuesday morning from the apartment of Mr. Christopher.

According to the source in question, a close friend of Tyler Christopher had entered the apartment with a key given to him by the late actor.

The friend, who has not yet been identified, found the man dead in the bedroom. Reports also indicate that Christopher had been dead for some time.

A great loss for his loved ones

Maurice Benard, his “General Hospital” colleague, later confirmed the actor’s death.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news of Tyler Christopher’s passing,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “Tyler died this morning after a heart attack in his San Diego apartment.”

“Tyler was a truly talented individual who lit up the screen in every scene he played and loved bringing joy to his loyal fans with his performance,” he added.

Benard also discussed Christopher’s battle with mental health and addiction.

“Tyler was an advocate for better treatment of mental health and substance abuse, and spoke openly about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”

The actor’s representative has also confirmed the death of Tyler Christopher. “This news was incredibly shocking and I am devastated by his loss.”

The late actor appeared in two roles on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.” From 1996 to 2016, he played Nikolas Cassadine, as well as Connor Bishop from 2004 to 2005.

In 2016, Christopher won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the series.

Then, from 2017 to 2019, he joined the soap opera “Days of Our Lives”, after which he was selected for an Emmy nomination for his role as Stefan DiMera.
