Laura Pigossi made history at the Pan American Games this Sunday (29). After winning the gold medal in doubles, alongside Luisa Stefani, the tennis player once again climbed to the highest place on the podium. In the women’s singles final, Laura beat Argentina’s Lourdes Carle by 2 sets to 0. The last time a Brazilian won this category at the Pan was in 1987, with Gisele Miró.

The Brazilian tennis player dominated the first set and quickly took the lead. In the second, the Argentine made Laura struggle to convert match points, but the 29-year-old triumphed to take the gold medal.
On Saturday (29), Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani won the doubles competition. Brazil has not won the women’s doubles title at Pan since 2003, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In this edition, Bruna Colósio and Joana Cortez won gold.
