Politician and businessman shot dead in Baixada Fluminense


Businessman and politician Clayton Damaceno, from the town of Queimados, in Baixada Fluminense, was executed last Saturday (28). According to information from the Military Police (PM), another person was injured. The Baixada Fluminense Criminal Police Station (DHBF) is investigating what happened.

Damaceno was 45 years old and was shot dead on Rua Olímpia Silva, in the Inconfidência neighborhood. The Prime Minister was called to verify the attempted murder. According to the company, soldiers from the 24th Battalion were called, but the victims had already been rescued.

In Clayton Damaceno’s profile it was informed that the burial would take place this Sunday (29), at the Queimados cemetery.

Waguinho Carneiro, mayor of Belford Roxo, announced the death on social media. “I have lost not only a great friend, but also an exemplary political leader,” he wrote.

According to the civil police note, another person was injured and taken to hospital. Military police said the victim was taken to UPA in Austin. According to the publication made on Fábio Sperendio’s profile, Paula Menezes, known as Paula do PDT, also died on Saturday.

According to a post on Paula Menezes’ profile, it was Clayton Damaceno’s birthday the day before the attack, last Friday (27).

Political violence in Baixada Fluminense

A study carried out by Observatório das Favelas showed that a politician is assassinated in Baixada Fluminense every 45 days.

The survey is carried out in partnership with the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF), the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), South Africa, and was implemented updated as of September 2022.
