The case

Ana Clara was born in the city of Sonora, in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul, and studied psychology at the Federal University of Rondonópolis (UFR). I flew on a plane for the first time to see Taylor Swift. According to a friend who accompanied her, the student felt sick as soon as the show started and fainted.

The young woman was rescued at the aid station of the Nilton Santos stadium, in Engenhão, and then transported to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, where resuscitation maneuvers were carried out, but she did not survive.

On the day of the show in which Ana Clara died, the capital Rio de Janeiro recorded 39.1°C and broke a thermal sensation record with 59.3°C.

In a statement, T4F said it contacted the family via the social assistance team. “We respect the right to privacy of family and friends during this time of pain and mourning who have not wanted to speak to us. We reaffirm that we continue to have an open channel of contact with the family and, out of solidarity at this difficult time, we remain available to provide all necessary assistance,” the note completes.

A CNN has also contacted Universal Music, Taylor Swift’s label, as well as the singer’s advisors, and is awaiting comment.

The federal government has asked T4F, the producer responsible for Taylor Swift’s broadcasts in Brazil, to provide clarification to the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) on the death of the fan.

On Saturday (18), a day after Ana’s death, the Ministry of Justice decided that bottled water should be allowed into shows and that the drink would be made available free of charge in case of exposure to high heat. The government and Rio City Hall also announced measures to mitigate weather-related risks during the show.

The show on Saturday (18) was postponed to this Monday (20) due to the heat. Yesterday (19), Taylor performed in front of more than 60 thousand people in Engenhão, and did not mention the death of the fan. This week again, she will perform three shows in São Paulo, at the Allianz Parque, and will conclude The Eras Tour in Brazil.
