A new nuclear weapon that the US government is currently working on would be 24 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, according to several media reports.
According to a Newsweek analysis, such a bomb would cause “major devastation” if dropped on Moscow and kill more than 300,000 people.
Anything within 800 meters of this weapon’s detonation would be vaporized by a huge fireball. Buildings within a one kilometer radius would be demolished and everyone inside would be killed.
The bomb in question, called the B61-13, could contain up to 340 kilotons of TNT. The fall on Hiroshima in 1945 contained 15 kilotons.
